Faith to Move a Mountain

In November of 2011, I started this blog as a sort of journal to chronicle the events of our son Quinton's adoption. Quinton is a little boy who was born with an extra special something. Quinton has down syndrome and was given up at birth by his parents because he has down syndrome. His birth parents must not have had any idea what a blessing he would be or I am sure they would not have given him up. Unfortunately in Eastern Europe (Quinton is from Ukraine) people with disabilities are not accepted in society and at the age of 4-6, they are sent to adult mental institutions where most of them die :( Although it breaks my heart that his parents have missed out on such a joyful little boy, God has used this unfortunate situation to bless us with a gift greater than I could have ever imagined: the gift of our first child. If you ever considered adoption-do it! Don't let money deter you. God provided over $20,000 for us to adopt Quinton. We were not fully funded until 50 minutes before we boarded our plane to Ukraine. If you have never considered adoption, go back to the beginning of this blog and read. You will see what a blessing adoption really is. Many people tell us that we are angels for rescuing Quinton, but the honest truth is this: Quinton has given me far more that I will ever be able to give him. He is my little miracle, my silly bug, my baby boy, my love. HE IS MY LIFE!

SDA Appointment!

Today was the day! We got our appointment with the State Department of Adoptions in Quinton's country. Our appointment is on June 15th @ 11:00. They are 7 hours ahead of  is 4:00 am Eastern Daylight Time. We are encouraged to travel 3 days before our appointment in order to give ourselves plenty of time and avoid missing our appointment due to any delays for whatever reason. So, we will be leaving in less than 2 weeks! There is so much to do between now and then. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed right now, but God has been so faithful thus far and I know that He will see us through. As always-thank you for your support. It means the world to us :)

  2. Hey! I just found your blog and wanted to say hello-- we are adopting through RR, too (dossier en route!) and live in Monroe, NC. I know it's crazy busy now, but wanted to extend a hand out to you-- we have a child with Ds already, and have been really active in the Down Syndrome Association of Charlotte. Facebook me or drop by my blog sometime and we'll get together! :)

Congrats! You are so close to little Quinton!

  3. Hi, I'm a friend of Traci Williams and have excitedly watched her every step of the way in bringing sweet Anna into her family (what great news for her yesterday - and I'm sure the same will be true for you soon!). I wanted to tell you that when I first saw Quinton's picture on her blog I thought he was absolutely the cutest little boy I've ever seen! I instantly fell in love with the little guy and prayed he would find a perfect home. It was only recently that I found out who was going to adopt him - you! - and I was so thrilled as I know how highly Traci thinks of you. I will be praying for you (especially June 15), and tomorrow I'll ask my Sunday School class to start praying for you as well. God bless you. Have a safe and wonderful trip.
